Over two hundred and fifty years ago, the first national public museum in the world opened its doors. Truly an exercise in astonishing facts and figures, since that time the British Museum has cared for more than eight million works of art, historical artefacts, and archaeological finds. British Museum Exhibitions must be displayed to their full potential, and the full museum experience must be seamless for all guests. This goal is difficult to achieve with non-standardized equipment and systems. To tackle the challenge, the British Museum team selected systems integrator and production company Autograph Sound to update the control system for exhibition audio and video content. Autograph’s long experience with QSC led them to propose Q-SYS as the audio, video and control solution to providing consistent incoming exhibition experiences. With QSC, Autograph Sound…

University of Florida wechselt zur Q-SYS Plattform

The Reitz Union within the University of Florida heralds from humble origins – a simple campaign back in 1922 to raise funds for an on-campus YMCA. Since then, the student union has grown to over 630,000 square feet servicing over 50,000 students. Named after former University President Dr. J. Wayne Reitz, this facility continues to serve as the community center of the campus, providing services and programs to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Within this expansive space is Grand Ballroom, one of the most versatile areas available in the Union – split into eight 45x45-foot salons with the total area measuring roughly 20,000 square feet. The Grand Ballroom is rented out for a host of events but unfortunately, the audio wasn’t living up to the space’s requirements. “I’ll get straight to it – the audio was bad,” explained Lon Vance, Senior…

Virginia Tech wählt die Q-SYS Plattform als zukünftigen Standard

As a public land-grant university, Virginia Tech remains committed to teaching, learning, research, and outreach. In 2007, they articulated their long-term future vision with their Advancing Beyond Boundaries ethos. One of the main strategic objectives was to ensure institutional excellence by continually developing “the physical campus and technology infrastructure”. A part of this upgrade in technology infrastructure is the standardization of their audio, visual and control systems across campus. Rob Viers, New Classroom Building AV Manager and Building Manager, explains, “Our system was starting to age. Some of our auditoriums didn’t even have digital signal processing – we still needed to cobble together a USB integration solution for presentations. We knew this was an opportunity for standardization, and we already had a building leveraging the Q-SYS Platform…
