Norfolk, VA (July 2011) ––MacArthur Center mall, the modern upscale 1.1 million-square-foot shopping center in the downtown Hampton Roads area of Norfolk recently completed an audio system upgrade which included QSC’s Q-Sys Integrated System Platform as well as CX Series Amplifiers. Sound and communications systems specialist Independence Communications Inc., a Muzak affiliate, handled the upgrade at the MacArthur Center. The QSC equipment replaced the head end of the mall’s original music playback and paging system, providing a more powerful and flexible DSP solution and significantly reducing the rack space required. “The performance of the new audio equipment was certainly a big attraction, but there was an even bigger factor behind our selection of QSC for this project,” says William Ammerman III, Director of Engineering for Independence Communications. “We get…

Wisconsin State Assembly setzt auf Q-SYS™
Madison, WI (June 30, 2011) – DSP horsepower and customizable functionality were just two of the important factors that made QSC’s Q-Sys Integrated System Platform the ideal solution for the recent renovation of the Wisconsin State Assembly’s audio system. “This system at the Assembly is the most complex we’ve ever designed or installed,” reports Scott Leonard, vice-president of Wauwatosa, WI-based AV specialists Professional Audio Designs, Inc. “Q-Sys was the only system platform that I could find with enough horsepower to do what I wanted to do.” The task facing Professional Audio Designs was to renovate the fifteen-year-old custom audio system in the Wisconsin State Assembly—the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature located in the State Capitol in Madison—within a limited budget. With the previous installer no longer in business and replacement parts hard to…

Q-SYS hebt ab am Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport
Ft. Lauderdale, FL (May 6, 2011) – Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is undergoing extensive physical and technological renovations, including the addition of new buildings and more planned for the future -- all networking together via QSC’s Q-Sys integrated platform. The first part of FLL’s new evolution was the reintegration of networking systems in Terminal Four. Realizing that their existing networking system had a limited ability to meet the facility’s advancing needs, the airport facility managers consulted with Rod Sintow, CEO of Pro Sound Video, on the kind of system that would serve them best now and into the future. The key considerations were budget, quality, reliability, a system which is energy-efficient, UL rated, and most of all -- the capacity to expand with the planned upgrades of other terminals in years to come. “I recommended…

Q-SYS im historischen Mainzer Dom
Mainz, Germany (01 April 2011)-- The thousand year-old Mainzer Dom, (Mainz Roman Catholic Cathedral), one of the most historically important buildings in Western Europe, has undergone a complete A/V refit designed and specified by Rolf Mayer of IFB Consulting, showcasing QSC’s Q-Sys advanced DSP processing system. As Mayer needed to construct a digital backbone that would offer complex routing and low-latency signal transport over standard TCP/IP hardware — ensuring high intelligibility for congregations of up to 4,000 people — he opted for a Q-Sys network constructed around a Core 1000 processor and six I/O Frames. This Romanesque Cathedral, with its striking red fascia, spans a length of 116 meters and has ceiling heights ranging between 28 and 54 meters. From an acoustics perspective this presents the significant challenge of an extraordinarily long reverberation…

Ryan Center der Universität von Rhode Island erhält mit Q-SYS ein intelligentes System
Kingston, RI (March 23, 2011) -- The Ryan Center, a $54 million, 7,500 seat multi-purpose arena on the grounds of the University of Rhode Island, is home to a variety of events including family entertainment, concerts, sports competitions, conventions and a host of other community affairs. Recently, Ryan graduated to a much more intelligent sound system with the help of QSC Audio. Growing concerns with the intelligibility and the overall aesthetics of the venue’s P.A. system led the Center to hire respected A/V system consultant, North American Theatrix, to analyze the state of the system. In reviewing the existing installation, NAT determined that a physical re-arrangement of the existing clusters would cost approximately 1/3 of an all-new cluster, not including additional necessary components. However, the manufacturer of that system was not actively supporting this…

Q-SYS verschafft dem Ford Field in Detroit einen Heimvorteil
Detroit, MI (March 15, 2011) – Major sporting event fans pay big ticket prices to attend games in person, and a large part of their enjoyment depends upon their ability to hear high-quality play-by-play announcements and entertainment over the stadium’s audio system. Here at Ford Field, home of the NFL Detroit Lions, fans are now hearing an enhanced audio experience with the help of QSC’s Q -Sys integrated system platform. The original audio system at Ford Field was comprised of multiple, interconnected DSP systems of varying ages and types – an infrastructure ripe for potential disaster and sorely in need of an audio overhaul. Losing the stadium audio during a game is the probably the worst nightmare that can happen to any technical crew, and the team at Ford Field experienced this first-hand. “The former system was a mixture of analog and networked digital audio…
